Comic Sans: the Documentary
Help us raise funds for “Comic Sans: the Documentary”, a full length feature film about the world’s most loved and hated font, Comic Sans.
ABOUT THIS PROJECT (From Director Scott Hutcheson)
This will be my 2nd kickstart campaign to get my documentary about Comic Sans off the ground and funded. This time around I have done more strategic planning, already purchased all my equipment and have eliminated the need for a large budget. This time around we will be successful.
With Comic Sans being used represent the champions of the prestigious Copa del Rey, it is more important than ever to educate people on the use.
We have the creators of bancomicsans.com behind us, as well as world famous artist Shepard Fairey and with your help we can convince Vincent Connare to get on board as well…which is helpful since he created the font for Microsoft.
The funds will be used to cover travel expenses for 1 month while we travel to film the biggest designers in the world about Comic Sans.

LOL – hope this is a satire — you really had me going!
I happen to be dyslexic and while I feel that comic sans may be over used, I’m glad it is, as it is the easiest font for me to read. I wish there were more font options that did not have letters like a and g that as so alike they are difficult to distinguish. If you make this documentary I hope you mention this application of the font as I am not the only dyslexic to feel this way. I would like nothing better than to see more fonts deigned with the simple strait forward letter shapes we all learned in grade school. It would make my life much easier. I would also like to not have to constantly convert what I write in comic sans into another font before I send it out. The fact that it is so negatively received if I forget to convert the text to another font is extremely disheartening at times. Rather than see an outcry and campaigns against this font I would like to see better font developed to replace it.
Think about the more important humanitarian causes you could put all this money and effort towards. This is a hilarious website, not because everyone wishes they thought of it, but because it’s hilarious it even exists; this is the epitome of “1st world problems.” $3000+ can do a lot more good than unsuccessfully banning a computer font.
Also freedom of text, people can use what they want Hipstler. In fact it increases memory retention.
I believe in fighting for what you believe in, but this is the most pointless fight ever. If we crown you King Hipster, will you stop?
Comic Sam:
This isnt about being a hipster, and while $3000+ is beneficial to far better things than comic sans, the documentary isn’t aiming to ban the font. Instead I want to educate people the same way Helvetica (the documentary) educated people. It has never been my goal to become King Hipster, or to waste people’s $$.
I want people to think about their intended use before selecting Comic Sans to convey a message that isn’t meant to be silly or unprofessional.
