Founders

Inspired by Shepard Fairey’s Andre the Giant has a Posse campaign, Dave and Holly Combs, both graphic designers, founded the ban comic sans campaign in 2002 as an inside joke. You can see the very first site here. Please don’t write telling them to get a life. The Combses know there are more important issues in the world than typography. After starting the campaign they published PEEL Magazine, ran an art gallery in Indianapolis, and are raising two children. They also publish underground art zine, Surface Area with ChrisRWK. These days they are up to many interesting things besides banning Comic Sans.

Holly Combs graduated from Herron School of Art with a BFA in Visual Communications. She is currently a teaching artist, as well as a full-time mom. She works with Young Audiences, the Indianapolis Art Center, Art With a Heart, and Herron School of Art. Her website is: www.streetstylesinfo.com.
